Gumboot Friday

Hi bloggers On Friday we had Gumboot Friday. Gumboot Friday Is a mental health charity in NZ where we try to wear gumboots. The reason we wear gumboots is because when you are feeling a negative emotion it is like you are walking through mud. The give a little page has made $315,352.99 donated and there could be more! Gumboot Friday Give A Little We had the Healthy Puketapapa Student Questionnaire and one of the questions was what would make a good community. Several of the students said mental health. We also had to do a comment one of the students said that sending letters with uplifting note’s would make our community better. So on Friday we made cards, these cards were made to send to letter boxes. The cards had encouraging and uplifting notes on them that could brighten someone's day (eg) have a great day. We went in groups to send letters to our community we each took different streets. I had a great time sending the letters. On the next day we had a call to our school saying that someone’s child had got a letter and it uplifted him and he was affected by mental health the lady said it totally uplifted him! Which is great! Because of that we think we might do this every term. I hope it helps more and more people. This is also great because it matches to our inquiry topic HAUORA - WELLBEING. Here are some photos. Blog ya later!
