Squash

Hi bloggers! This term we had squash for our kiwi sport. For those who don't know what squash is, it is where you use a racket and you hit it on the wall to your partner. You start of with a serve that you have to get between two lines. After that your partner has to get it and hit it back, then basically you keep doing that until someone misses the ball that gives you opponent a point.

We got to do championships and see who could do the longest rally with their buddy. Our team got a score of thirty-two and wrecked everyone in our class. We were split into two groups. The other group were doing hand eye coordination skills. Overall I loved doing it was really fun.
At the end it was Miss Daly, our Teacher, playing Faris, my team member,
and Miss Daly WON!

Mud Run

Last Term we had a Mud Run, I think you know what a Mud Run is because of the title you basically do a run in mud. And trust me it sounds fun but you will regret it because you get SO muddy it is not fun. At the start there is a dance to get warmed up and the person running it is a Clown! There are spot prizes at the end, and you all get a bottle of Loaded. Over all it was a fun day for some but, not me just a warning.

Litter Blitz

Hi bloggers for the start of Term three. We went on a Litter Blitz. A Litter Blitz is an event where you pick up rubbish. You may be thinking - yuck you wouldn't want to do that! Well there is a catch, the organisation hid six golden tickets and they were all over the street where we were looking for rubbish. If you found the golden ticket you got a prize. After that the environmental group went back to order the rubbish and to weigh the bags. There were lots of newspapers and a few weird objects. Someone in our class found $20 dollars! I felt great. It was a good idea to pick up rubbish because there was a lot of rubbish everywhere. Here are some photos.

Reading

Hi bloggers. Throughout term two and term three we have been reading a novel in reading time. We have different tasks to do with them, including comprehension questions, describe maps, and more. The novel that I am reading is called A Friend In Paradise by Des Hunt. It was very interesting! It was about a boy who would risk his life to save one species. But I won't tell you much more or else I will spoil it.

As part of my work, I had to do a describe map about Robbie in the book. A describe map is where you write all about you character. Here is the Link.
We also did two comprehension questions. Comprehension questions are a set of questions about the book you are reading. Here is a link to both of the comprehension questions.

Duffy Show

This week we had the Duffy show come to school each year. Duffy theatre comes to our school. They ask many different schools what they are into these days. Last year kids were into super heroes, and this year, many kids are into gaming, so they did a gaming show.

The show was about a game that Nana made, about a kid called Duffy and his cousin. Duffy's mum  had gone so Duffy had to stay at his cousins house but accidentally got sucked into his and his cousins favourite game! While solving lots of problem him and his cousin try to make it out.

I think it was a really funny show and it was even better because it was about gaming. One of the really funny things was at the start of the show the actors asked us to make noise then when we were meant to be quiet everyone went quiet except for one of the actors.

News Paper Article

Last week we did a climate change march then we made reports about it. You will find my report below. We started making these this term and I found it really fun because I enjoy writing like a reporter.

Imagine a sauna as a planet
Climate Change is an important matter to kids of all ages . On the 24th of May, the second Climate Change march took place at Aotea square and went down Queen St. These marches have taken place all around the country.

Here at Aotea Square we have kids from Waikowhai Primary School of Mt Roskill. These kids are all concerned about their country and about the amount of fossil fuels that are getting used. These climate change events have been all over Aotearoa, events happened at Dunedin's George St, Christchurch's Cathedral Square, Wellington's Civic Square and Auckland's Aotea Square. Nikhil Jackson from Waikowhai Primary explained,  ‘Climate Change has a huge impact on the environment because of global warming. Sea levels are rising and lots of islands will sink. So look out Hawaii lovers there might not be any more Hawaii! So that is why we need to change now!’

Waikowhai Primary School went on the Aotea Square march. During the march tamariki lay down on the road of Queen St striving to tell the government to wake up! These Kids want the Government to wake up and take action on  Climate Change. The kids are hoping by 2040 the amount of fossil fuels has dropped.

After I wrote this amazing report we were able to publish a newspaper. We put our articles on a newspaper site called 'create your own newspaper'. It was really fun because you could add photos and more pages witch helped us to create advertisements. I made two pages' one of them was about the cricket world cup and the other was my front page. I finally finished and it looked really good.

Student Led Toolkits

This week, on Tuesday, we had Student Led Toolkits. Student Led Toolkits is a cybersmart event where we go to different stations and learn thing to do on our chrome books. The stations are presented by other schools. Our school had two presenters for two stations, so four of our students were presented. The other ones got to go to stations. There are three sessions. Before we went to the Toolkits, we had to fill out a survey of what sessions we wanted to do. The toolkits were at Hay Park Primary School. The sessions I went to were how to create a Kahoot! then we had morning tea then I did how to use Canva and last of all I learnt how to use Genally. Genally is like Google drawings except you can add photos from the website and loads of other things. I had a really fun time! I learnt a lot of things I didn't know.
